Committee on the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities in model UN clubs
ANSWD policy statement on UN clubs
18. ANSWD believes that students with disabilities who aspire to become a member of the actual United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities should be given an environment in which they could get a sense what it is really like but in a pretend state. We encourage that the rules of the actual United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities be made public and that United Nations clubs on tertiary educational institutions throughout Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand to include a committee on the Rights of Persons with disabilities when staging a mock United Nations on their campus.
Advocate for CRPD committee to be established within your UN club when holding a model UN on your campus
Tell them that the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities have been operational since February 2009 Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and to actually reflect the actual United Nations that they should include a Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities when holding a model United Nations.
