(This is not an ANSWD campaign.) Senate Inquiry into Student Income Support (2004)
On 11 March 2004 the Senate referred the matter of student income support to the Senate Employment, Workplace Relations and Education References Committee for inquiry.

  • The Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission has applauded today's announcement by the Federal Minister for Education, Science and Training Dr Brendan Nelson that the government will move unilaterally to implement Standards under the Disability Discrimination Act in the area of education.

The Federal Government's Higher Education Package: Our Universities - Backing Australia's Future
In 2002 the Federal government conducted a review of the higher education sector. In the 2003 Federal budget the outcomes of that review were announced as a higher education package called Our Universities - Backing Australia's Future.
ANSWD has a number of concerns regarding this higher education package, in particular the Learning Entitlement proposal, the Commonwealth Learning Scholarships Programme, and the package as a whole in how it will adversely affect students with disabilities.

Proposed changes to the Human Rights & Equal Opportunity Commission (2003) - The Australian Human Rights Commission Legislation Bill 2003 was introduced to Parliament on the 27th of March 2003 and was referred to the Senate Legal and Constitutional Legislation Committee to give all interested parties an opportunity to comment on the reforms.
